We collect the following categories of information:
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your name and email address through our authentication provider, Clerk. This is required to create and secure your account.
Personality & Preference Data
We collect your responses to our onboarding personality quiz, which asks about your interests, preferred environment, learning style, and school preferences. This data is used solely to match you with schools that suit your profile.
School Shortlist
We store the schools you save or dismiss within the app so we can show you your personalised shortlist.
Usage & Technical Data
We collect anonymous, aggregated usage data (pages visited, general interaction patterns) through Vercel Analytics. This does not use cookies and cannot be used to identify you individually. We also collect error and crash reports through Sentry, which may include your browser type, device type, and the page where an error occurred.
We use the information we collect to:
We do not use your personal information for advertising, and we do not sell your individual data to any third party.
We may share aggregated, anonymised insights (for example, “students on Ivy Era most commonly prefer small, nature-immersed schools”) with boarding schools, admissions agencies, or industry partners. This data cannot be used to identify any individual student. No personally identifiable information — including your name, email, quiz answers, or shortlist — is ever shared or sold to third parties.
We use the following trusted service providers to operate the app. Each processes data only as necessary to provide their service:
These providers may store and process data on servers located in the United States and other countries outside Canada. By using Ivy Era, you acknowledge that your information may be transferred to and processed in these jurisdictions, which may have different privacy laws than your country of residence.
Ivy Era is intended for users aged 14 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are between 14 and 15 years old, we recommend that a parent or guardian review this Privacy Policy with you before you create an account.
If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will delete that information promptly. If you believe this has occurred, please contact us at infoivyprojects@gmail.com.
We retain your account data and school preferences for as long as your account is active. Anonymous usage data and error reports are retained for up to 90 days.
If you delete your account, your personal data (name, email, quiz answers, and shortlist) will be permanently deleted from our systems within 30 days.
You have the right to:
To exercise any of these rights, email us at infoivyprojects@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days.
Ivy Era does not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels. Vercel Analytics, which we use to understand general usage patterns, is cookieless and privacy-friendly by design — it does not track you across websites or build an individual profile.
We take reasonable steps to protect your information. Your account is secured through Clerk's industry-standard authentication. Your data is stored in Supabase with Row Level Security, meaning each user can only access their own data. All data is transmitted over HTTPS.
No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
If you have any questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or how we handle your data, please contact us at:
We are committed to resolving any privacy concerns promptly and transparently.
